Exif Editor App Reviews

Excellent

Excellent app, do what you want on the exif. Well done

Good to modify date and add GPS to multiple photos

At last I find solution to edit all my old pictures where dates were not accurate and I can relatively easily GPS datas. I will then include all of this in Apple Photos and it will be great. I left message on the blog of the author and got answer. New version is coming that will make it possible to select GPS directly on a map instead of going back and forth to google maps.

Doesnt seem to work, no way to contact support

I just bought this app to edit the exif date for scanned photos (tiff) that I am importing into lightroom, so I can combine my analogue and digital catalogues. Although I can change the camera name, and lighroom notices the change, lightroom does not find the changed date, which is why I bought the software in the first place. I could find no way to contact the author for support, which is a shame, because then he might have been able to help solve this issue… There should be some kind of try before you by system in the app store for software like this with no reviews. Disapointing.

Good one!

From all the stand-alone Exif Editors out there, this is the best one. And I have tried them all. Nice GUI, everythings pretty self explaining. In a minute you know what to do. Performance is also okay: My setup: MBP, 2.2Ghz, i7, 8MB RAM. Program processes 2-4 Photos in a second (jpg, average size 5MB), depending on file size and format. Had one little issue with the program, so I shoot out an email to the support team. I admit, without having big hope for a quick reply … and, Martin responded almost immediately. (Martin, thanks, appreciate it!) Long story short: I recommend the Exif Editor.

quirky interface, unreliable

i tried to use it for geo tagging.

Doesn’t work - makes my computer unstable, ejects network volumes

Attempting to add EXIF data for a bunch of scanned photos - this program hangs, then ejects every network volume connected to my Mac, then returns loads of errors. All I’m trying to do is add the Exif Date. I’ve never been more disappointed in a purchase from the Mac store. Completely useless.

Works, could be better

The only reason I bought this is to add GPS data to scanned photos. That works, but when you click "show map", there is no search field, so I have to manually pan each time to the location, which is always far from where the map starts. If I know the photo was taken at a specific address, it would be so much simpler to type that, watch the map change location so I can verify it is correct, and then apply. I have written this script for web apps and it takes about 1 hour to do. Please add search to you map.

Entirely satisfied

I needed an app that would allow me to embed EXIF data in my raw camera files — my camera allows the use of legacy lenses, but the ordinary EXIF data does not include the details. EXIF Editor allows the insertion of manual lens data of your own creation. I create templates for the lenses I use, and can apply the EXIF data to many files at once as required. Also of great interest to me was the ability to ‘untag’ files created by my camera, files that were flagged as 16:9 imagas in camera, but in fact the full 3:2 file existed but couldn’t be reached without removing the flag. Using a Mac and Photoshop/Bridge the flag couldn’t be removed without converting the file to other than raw — EXIF Editor allows for the simple reflagging of the image height to match the actual 3:2 dimensions and the entire file is now available for editing in raw format. A straightforward and functional app, that I would be happy to recommend.

Exif Editor Solid App

Solid app. Ran with the app open for 2 days, processing hundreds of images. No crashes, no hangs, did everything I need without reference to the manual. Good job.

USEFUL

I found this app useful, but I have had a few minor crashes. I find processing after each change eliminates most crashes. It would be nice to be able to transfer sections of exif data (like gps info), or all exif data from one photo to another instead of line by line. Maybe it can be done and I’m just unaware of how to do it. Still, a good app for me.

便利ですが、操作性に難

Filmをスキャンした画像に撮影データを埋め込むために使用しています。OS10.7.3で問題なく使用できます。 テキストダイアログに各データを入力し、「Process」ボタンをクリックするだけなのですが、ボタンの説明に「Process button saves all changes in all files at once」とあります。それならボタン表示も「Save」でよいのでは?また、日時入力欄だけが、テキストダイアログではないのも、操作に戸惑いました。GPSデータ入力で緯度経度を数字で入力しなければならないのは不便です。

Adobe DNG not working.

Not working with DNG from Hasselblad.

Exif Editor 1.0.8

Its a very easy to learn software. It has a lot of fields you can fill and there is a very useful option you can save a set of informations and load it for multiple images!

Non trova tutti i metadati presenti - Does not find all the metadata

Im sorry but this application is not able to extract all metadata recorded into photos. Missing TIFF, some IPTC, some XMP and those that are written by Adobes softwares. Another app on the store instead finds them all and costs less than half. I was hoping to get value by spending a few euro more and instead I wasted them. This review will be improved when this app will be completed properly.

Difficult to use, can’t save edits

I bought this mainly to change the date & location on a bunch of scanned jpg files. I was never able to figure out how to change dates — the part that says “Click here to change date” does absolutely nothing when clicked. If you want to change locations, come equipped with exact latitude and longitude, because the map function doesn’t work either. Online documentation is sparse and completely unhelpful. Then, once I thought I managed to change something and tried to process or save the files, there were all kinds of error messages and it wouldn’t save. Just out of curiosity, I loaded an image and then tried to save it without any changes — I still got the error messages and inability to save. I’m out ten bucks for an app that does nothing. Don’t let that happen to you. Run away!

Does not support NEF files

Acording to the blurb, this application is supposed to support "various jpg and raw image formats". It does not read NEF files, which leaves out a rather important raw format. Caveat emptor.

Exif Editor

Dont waste your money, Im sorry I did. The programs metadata editing capabilities are limited to only what you see in the screenshot above. There are a whole host of metadata fields you cant edit, you dont really know when its done or saved, and you cant save templates. Total waste.

Doesnt work

Used the software to "remove all metadata" but it did not work. It showed up as having no metadata within this app after clearing, but the exif data still showed up when opening the file with any other image software. Dont waste your money. I used GraphicConverter instead, much better application. Wish I could get my money back.

Does not display or Remove all Metadata

Doesnt display ALL the metadata in a file. Application works for editing and deleting the fileds shown but all data cant be removed. Other applications still show some camera information even after selecting to remove all data. Not worth the price until the other metadata blocks can be edited / removed.

EXIFTool Upgrade!

Have you scoured the Internet searching for an EXIF editor (Mac)? If so, youve probably downloaded an app called "EXIFTool" and quickly discovered it only runs in Terminal. Let me ask this… raise you hand if you prefer to use Terminal over a functional app with a great GUI (graphical user interface)?… PUT YOUR HAND DOWN, MAC NERD! Martin Novak has saved the day! He has taken "EXIFTool" and gave it a simple user interface. Im giving this app a 4-out-5 because I think its a little too pricey ($8.99).
